Spread across six days at key cultural venues in Amsterdam city centre, Summer Dance Forever presents the most thrilling hiphop theatre performances from around the globe. From Tuesday 14 till Sunday 19 August, 16 internationally acclaimed choreographers and companies present their latest pieces at Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, DeLaMar Theatre, Melkweg Theatre, OBA Theatre and Vondelpark Openluchttheater.
On the opening night at the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, Black Sheep presents FACT, a dazzling choreography for seven dancers that investigates collective energy and individual expression. In the European premiere of Threesixnine by Canadian company Tentacle Tribe, one of the leading conceptual hiphop groups, six limber, articulate bodies transform into complex centipedes. The programme furthermore features YZ’s playful piece R1R2 Start as an ode to Gaming Culture, two multiple bills that give you a taste of some of the best hiphop theatre has to offer, the impressive solo Kanyar by prize-winning bboy Didier Boutiana about exclusion, the ongoing interactive installation Dance of the city warriors by Anne Nguyen (Par Terre) and many more.
