Scholarship winner's film selected at Cinedans Festival

Fear by Karel López, a film about the fear of embracing one's true way of moving, has been selected for Cinedans FEST '26. Fear was made possible by the SDF x VandenEnde scholarship.

Dancers are in a constant quest to find within themselves a precious sense of uniqueness and expression. Society is built on codes that shape how we fit in social circles, communities and industries. What is the true way to express ourselves in a world governed by codes? This is a film about the fear of embracing our true way of moving. Karel López, bridges the gap between the unknown of this fast-paced world and the source of inspiration within each individual.

The film is part of the feature documentary about Wicket, breakdancing legend on Saturday 28 March at Eye Filmmuseum.

The film Fear will be shown on Thursday 26 and Saturday 28 March at Eye Filmmuseum.

Cinedans FEST ’26 returns to Eye Filmmuseum with a rich and international film program that brings together the beauty of dance and the power of film! In more than forty programs, Cinedans presents the most urgent, poetic, and groundbreaking dance films of the moment: from international shorts to feature films, documentaries, specials, installations, and VR.

The VandenEnde Foundation provides scholarships to young talents to encourage their development, for example, into professional actors, theatre makers, singers, musicians, filmmakers, or dancers. Since its inception, over 820 young people have been able to study at educational institutions both domestically and abroad with a VDEF scholarship.
