Attitudes: Hip hop Dance Across Europe

Over the past two and a half years, the hip hop dance network Attitudes has toured across Europe, connecting artists, venues and audiences through an extensive international exchange. Six groups, featuring 15 artists, performed 33 times across stages in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands.

This journey has generated valuable insights into how hip hop dance operates across borders and within different institutional frameworks. As we explore how Attitudes can continue as an ongoing cross-cultural collaboration, we would like to share what we’ve learned.

We’ve developed a toolkit for hip hop choreographers and programmers working towards more sustainable ways of presenting hip hop dance; diversity guidelines explaining key concepts around inclusion in a practical way; and promotional kits for the six performances developed within Attitudes. These performances are all available for booking and touring.

We hope this inspires the field and offers practical insights to support future collaborations, while strengthening the position of hip hop dance across different contexts in Europe.
