Workshop African Dance in House Movement by Nadéeya GK
Through her practice Ancestral Movement Recall (AMR), choreographer and pedagogue Nadéeya GK proposes an approach to transmission rooted in the connections between hip hop dance - especially house dance - and traditional African dance forms.
Drawing from embodied memory, rhythmic practices, oral traditions, and lived experiences, she invites participants to explore the continuities between African dances and diasporic movement cultures through the body.
Her approach is based on three main axes: embodied memory, rhythmic vibration, and the circle.
By dancing, participants connect, understand, and anchor knowledge in movement while exploring dance as a space of transmission, liberation, and collective connection.
By creating, she transmits; by dancing, she liberates.
