Seminar: are you ready for the stage? (free entrance) 2025

Free entrance for everyone (limited capacity!)

Like every summer, we’re hosting a seminar to explore urgent questions from within the culture. This time we dive deep into a deceptively simple one: What does it take to be a choreographer in hip hop or other club and street styles?

A panel of international dancers and makers will share their perspectives on what it means to make and present hip hop dance as a performing art. Through a collective reflection, they'll engage with you to explore what could become your golden standard.

Speakers: Elise Richards, Kaide Gonzalez, Jerson Diasonama, Ibrah Silas Jackson, Lumi SOW
Host: Jimmy Yudat

Together we'll touch on questions such as: Do you even want to be called a choreographer? Or would you rather create without the weight of that title, solo or as a crew? What makes you feel ready? And if this is your path, what do you want to bring to the stage, whether that’s a theatre, a club or the streets? What do you represent? What defines your work, your technique, your lineage? Where do you stand in the legacy of hip hop and what legacy are you creating?

This seminar is part of Attitudes, a three-year capacity building and co-creation project in the field of hip hop dance. Attitudes is run by CCNRB (FR), Dansekapellet (DK), HOP Festival (ES), Kampnagel (DE), Norrlandsoperan (SE) and Summer Dance Forever (NL).

Attitudes is co-funded by the European Union 🇪🇺
