HOW TO GET TO AMSTERDAM

The nearest airport to Amsterdam is Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, only 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam Central Station. If you need to find a cheap flight, check the website of Cheaptickets. Directly below the airport you will find Schiphol train station.
Train tickets for domestic travel are available from the yellow ticket machines and they can also be bought from de ticket offices in Schiphol Plaza. The train to Amsterdam Central Station runs a couple of times an hour, but if you want the latest travel information, including details of temporary timetable changes, you can check the journey planner on the NS website.

TRAVEL AROUND AMSTERDAM
Travelling around Amsterdam is easiest by bike. There are many companies renting out bikes and you can rent them at Amsterdam Central Station, at the Leidseplein where the main festival location is situated, at the Stayokay Hostel Vondelpark and at many more places.
You can also travel Amsterdam by bus, tram and metro. For information about the public transport in Amsterdam check the GVB website. The GVB day or multi-day travel card provides you with unlimited travel through Amsterdam – day or night – for exactly the number of days that best suits your plans. There is also the option of the I amsterdam City Card. In addition to traveling on GVB, you get free entry to 37 museums and a round-trip canal ride.
As in every big city, staying in Amsterdam can be a bit expensive. Amsterdam offers a lot of good hotels and hostels located in and around the city centre, see for example hostels in Amsterdam, hotels.com and booking.com. The best advice: book ahead, the good hostels fill up quickly! You could also rent via Airbnb, renting a house together with friends could be your best option. If you are travelling to Amsterdam on a tight budget, your cheapest option is to Couchsurf during your stay.
